This week’s WordPress Challenge is Today.
The challenge came with the extra rule that the photo you take should be taken “today.”
Well, I must admit that I was going to do this challenge yesterday.
I didn’t, as it turned out to be a reflective day.
One of my family members has some health concerns
…and I thought a lot about her and her family yesterday.
I was thankful to hear that, bit by bit, she is doing better.
Today, in her honor I took a picture of one of my favorite Willow Tree Angels,
the Angel of Courage.
As a result of my reflections about family
I also decided it was time to do something that I hadn’t done in a while.
I wrote a post a while back where I mentioned that, for a number of reasons, I hadn’t played any music recently.
Well, since yesterday I’ve had this little tune running in my head…so it seemed to about time to just play it!
It’s one of the first songs that I ever learned to play. It’s a folk song called
“Today.”
It’s a sweet song that reminds us to live now. To live in the present. To live today.
I hope you’ll have a listen…and I hope that you will enjoy your day, today.
With love to John, Cece, Elijah and Ellie.
I know that song. You sing lovely.
Thanks, Judy! It’s been a while since I’ve sung publicly…so the video was fun to do. 🙂
What a lovely idea…you have a lovely voice
Thank-you very much, Jo!
How lovely! I enjoyed listening to your beautiful song for today
Thanks, scrapydo! 🙂

Hi Madelaine – I’m glad you enjoyed it! Thanks!

BE ENCOURAGED! BE BLESSED!
Hi Francine. I used to sing quite a bit but I took a break. Recording the video was new for me…I guess you can say that blogging has helped me to be a little less shy! Thanks for stopping by!
Talent shared in love… nothing better.
I feel blessed from your post.
Hope your family is doing better.

Duet I hear you calling!! heehee!..
🙂
Absolutely beautiful! Thank you for sharing.
Hello vanevolence. Thank-you very much! I’m happy that you think so!
How beautiful! Well-played indeed. I loved this song as a child. I remembered when I was in the fourth grade and our teacher taught this song, it has such a carpe-diem feel to it. So beautiful. The photo and the reflections around it are also great. Thanks for visiting my post and leaving your link. 🙂
Hello Myra. My sister said she remembers me first playing this when she was in grade school. That sounds about right. It’s one of those tunes that has always stayed with me. I think it’s meaning has changed here and there with the seasons of my life. It somehow seemed right to play it again. Thanks for stopping by my site!
Beautiful song!!! I’ve always loved it and your perform it well!!!! I just might leave it up and play it on and off all day!
Thanks so much, Cee! I’m glad it brightened your day. 🙂
Songstress! Greast post, lovely song…
Hi hodgepodge4thesoul! That’s a “title” I haven’t heard in a while…it was good to shake off some cobwebs!
I’m glad I took a chance by doing something different – thanks!
I am awestruck by your lovely voice, Kathy. I couldn’t sing my way out of a wet paper bag. I am also thrilled to know that this song as survived the test of time. It has been a favorite of mine since I was a small child. Through the years, I’ve caught myself humming the tune (when I’m alone, lest I frighten people off) and remembering the beautiful, yet simple truth behind the words. Thank for sharing your link with me and your version of the song. I guess the topic for the week as revived the words so that we will all remember … Today! Speaking of which, I hope your day has been wonderful and will be again tomorrow. Marcy
Hi Marcy! What a sweet comment! Truth be told, the first time I sang into a microphone I was around 10 years old…and even though I was a shy kid, I was aware that I could always “carry a tune.” It had been a little while since I’d sung publicly so I enjoyed making this little video. lol…sounds like a topic for a post as there are some stories behind that! I’ve always loved this song…and to your point, it seems to have surfaced at different times in my life. I’m pleased that people have been enjoying it! Thanks so much…wishing you a wondeful day as well! 🙂
Oh, Cathy….if there is a prize for the best rendition of a Today post, you win hands down!!!! How creative of you on all levels. And your voice is glorious. 🙂

Helia! I’ve really enjoyed that song over the years…and I’ve seen by the comments what this little song means to many people..a few people have been teary eyed, so that is very precious to me. I remember singing at your wedding, and, I’m glad I could bring back some happy memories! My love to all. 🙂

Hi Frizz. I play primarily rhythm and as you see arpeggio…and I’ll add the vocals as well. This was the first time I had ever posted any music. Quite enjoyable! I’ve enjoyed your playing *very much.* I’ve heard of sound cloud and will have to explore – thanks!
