Cold Hands, Warm Heart. How’s Your Winter?

In case you didn’t’ know it,  I’m a reptile.  I lose heat quickly; even though I’m no longer a sun-worshipper, I am a warm weather gal!

I joke about this all the time.  The truth of it is that I get a bit stiff during colder times of year, so I’m grateful that I live in the Southwestern part of the United States where the winter climate is milder than most.

When people shake my hands I sometimes apologize as my hands are cold.  People often say, “Cold hands, warm heart!”

Today I was on a business phone call where the participants were located in various parts of the country.  The current temperature turned out to be the ice breaker (no pun intended.)   One person said it was75 degrees Fahrenheit.  Another said it was minus 35 degrees if you factor in the wind chill. The temperature span was mind-boggling!!

For the area where I live it’s much colder than usual, but I really have no concept whatsoever of what it’s like to experience the type of cold that’s gripping various parts of my country.

I reminisced about hot chocolate and pan dulce, the Mexican sweet bread I loved to eat when I was growing up.  It was definitive cold weather comfort food wen I was younger.

Happy feet!

Happy feet!

So now I’m really curious!

How is the weather in your neck of the woods? Balmy? Bitter cold?

Tell me about the winter you’re experiencing!

I've always enjoyed writing and finally decided it was time to blog! As part of my profession I write every day, but I'm now trying to take the time to write creatively. My family and friends have been very encouraging as there is little that is written down in the way of a family chronicle. This is a favorite topic of mine! In addition to family history, I write about life, family, friends and faith. My husband is a full-time parent to our special needs daughter. I’ve explored this topic, too. I also enjoy music, crocheting, reading and relaxing with my family. I hope you enjoy what I have to offer!

It is 30 degrees below zero with the wind shield. All the schools are closed but we are warm and toasty here at home.

Cathy – It hit a record minus 13 here in Annapolis, Maryland, at 5 AM. We are still going down they say, about 4 degrees an hour. No dog walking today. I like your fire. Can we come snuggle by it? – DogDaz

  3. Yesterday my husband and I ventured out. His vehicle registered 4 degrees F. The wind was whipping and my nose was frozen! Other than that, not bad.
    Stay warm, Cathy.

The coldest was yesterday with the low -19 with the windchill. It is warming up to a high of 20 by tomorrow. Not normal for around here although we do get those artic blasts every now and then. No fireplace just warm jammies/robe, fleece lined slippers and extra quilts and soft blankets to snuggle in while watching tv or reading and drinking tea. Glad you are faring well with the cold as well.
