Weekly Image of Life: Summertime Blast

Island Traveler, who writes This Man’s Journey, has given us another great theme.

The subject is Weekly Image of Life: Summertime Blast!

I know the family archive has a few family photos of my dad and my Aunt Esther as they enjoyed a day at the beach!

If my dad and aunt were anything like my siblings and me, they probably left their house early in the morning.

Based on where they lived, the drive might have taken around an hour.  They would have packed food, drinks and towels; not much more than that.

Here is my lovely Aunt Esther (right)  and her friend Angie (left).  I don’t know much about Angie, but she is seen in a number of family photos.  I plan on asking my dad more about her when I visit my family next month.

As you can see they were the image of the California girl at the beach!Angie & Esther 2

In the picture below my dad is on the lower left.  I don’t know the person on the lower right.  Another question to ask my dad!

When I see these pictures of may dad  and aunt  having fun, I’m reminded of my five siblings and me playing in the sand as little kids, then, when we were older, having a blast swimming in the ocean.

There’s something about the atmosphere, the waves and the sun that can bring out the playfulness in all of us!

I enjoy looking at pictures of my dad showing his playful side.

Meaning, when I was growing up, I knew my dad had a great sense of humor…but as a businessman he wore suits. This gave him a serious look.

These pictures, taken when he was young,  show a very different side of him which I find refreshing.

I’ll leave you with another lovely image of my Aunt Esther as she’s enjoying a walk at the beach.  She looks so vibrant but also relaxed.

Family, friends, sun and sand – a real Summertime Blast!

About

I've always enjoyed writing and finally decided it was time to blog! As part of my profession I write every day, but I'm now trying to take the time to write creatively. My family and friends have been very encouraging as there is little that is written down in the way of a family chronicle. This is a favorite topic of mine! In addition to family history, I write about life, family, friends and faith. My husband is a full-time parent to our special needs daughter. I’ve explored this topic, too. I also enjoy music, crocheting, reading and relaxing with my family. I hope you enjoy what I have to offer!

HI Patty! Style is right! Makes me wonder what colors the suits were, but there’s no way to know. 🙂

I like the old B & W photos, because we are left to our own imaginations. I like to think they were bright and vibrant colors.

  9. Your aunt Esther is beautiful with a radiant smile. Wow, your dad has some super strength, thats two people on his shoulders. Looks like one perfect, happy day. I truly enjoy pictures of the past. So much to learn from and it helps us get to know our family more and how they were when they were younger. This is so true when we are close to the beach, “There’s something about the atmosphere, the waves and the sun that can bring out the playfulness in all of us! ” Your post gave a glowing sunshine to all of us today. Thanks. Best wishes to you and your family.

We were fortunate to live in an area where we could appreciate the beach on a seasonal basis. I’ve always enjoyed these pictures of my dad and his friends showing their playful side. Thanks as always for a great theme! Looking forward to more!
