Weekly Image of Life: Beautiful

Island Traveler has inspired us once again for the Weekly Image of Life.  The theme is Beautiful.

At first I thought this would be difficult.  What could possibly capture the essence of this word?

…then I came across a photo taken by my niece.

What is more beautiful than a new life, a new beginning?

Last week I wrote that my family tree expanded when we gained a new branch

Well, my family also recently gained a new little leaf!

This happy event occurred when my nephew Bob and his wife, Rachel celebrated the birth of baby Michael!

I can picture my niece being very excited when she saw this moment, then taking the picture as quietly as she could!

I was reflecting how I’ve been fortunate to share photos and stories about my family’s history; stories that span more than a century, stories that include Michael’s great-great-great-grandparents.

It’s my hope that Michael, the children of his generation, and even their descendants  will one day be able to look at these stories and realize they come from a line of vibrant, strong, beautiful people.

But that is for the future.  In the meantime he appears to be quite content here.

Shhhhhhh….quiet please…there’s a beautiful baby sleeping!

I've always enjoyed writing and finally decided it was time to blog! As part of my profession I write every day, but I'm now trying to take the time to write creatively. My family and friends have been very encouraging as there is little that is written down in the way of a family chronicle. This is a favorite topic of mine! In addition to family history, I write about life, family, friends and faith. My husband is a full-time parent to our special needs daughter. I’ve explored this topic, too. I also enjoy music, crocheting, reading and relaxing with my family. I hope you enjoy what I have to offer!

Beautiful! You have definitely found the right photograph and the right words to exemplify the word. And I love where you said,” my family also recently gained a new little leaf!”

  2. Beautiful baby INDEED! My goodness, how precious. How wonderful that little Michael will get to learn all about his history, from vibrant, strong, beautiful people such as yourself. Thank you for this lovely and heart warming post Cathy! Hugs, Gina

  3. Congratulations to you and the new parents, Bob and Rachel. New life is indeed beautiful. To see and hold a new born in our hands for the first time is magical. Years from now, Michael and his generation will read your posts and discover how beautiful and loving his family is. Thanks . Have a great weekend.

Sadly, I didn’t get to this one, but you took the words right out of my mouth. 🙂

  6. You captured “beautiful” in your photo, nothing is as beautiful as new life. You have such a love for your family and it is good to know that your love will be past down to all the generations. Congratulations on your new addition!
