Many of the crochet projects that I start don’t take too long to make. Scarves can be done in an evening. A shawl or a small blanket can be generally completed in a weekend.
That being said when I decided to make a gift that was going to be “large” I knew that I would have to start early.
Last December I stocked up on yarn in different shades of blue. You’d be amazed what you can buy at the end of the year!
I started crocheting a “blanket for two” in May.
I pulled apart large sections twice because I wasn’t satisfied. Glad I did! I was much happier with the end result.
Thirteen skeins and lots of hours later, I finally finished it in July!
The blanket will lay very nicely on a king-size bed.
At 72 inches x 74 inches it turned out to be the largest project I’d ever done.
When I was spreading it out on our bed to check the size and take a few photos my husband saw it. He remarked, “Nice job! So what are you sending to them? Ah, my husband! Always a kidder!
A couple of weeks ago the blanket was mailed to California as a wedding gift.
My mom was happy to deliver it to my nephew, Victor and his new bride Kristyn. They are featured in my last post called, “Splendid – Our Newest Branch!”

This is really lovely Cathy. “Good job!”
Hi Dor! Thanks! I have to say I was pleased with the way it turned out! 🙂
This is so beautiful, you did a great job and so quickly starting in May and finished end of July.
Thanks, scrapydo! I had to be consistent in working on it…it was fun to see it take shape! 🙂
it’s purdy!
Thanks, Come November! 🙂
Beautiful work, love the color.
BE ENCOURAGED! BE BLESSED!
Thanks, Francine! I debated for quite a time on how to lay out the colors!
Patience and perseverance. It’s wonderful!
Thanks, Gemma! Yes, when I got closer to finishing it I had to remind myself to stay patient…I started getting anxious to see it done! 🙂
Beautiful. I love the colors and the design 🙂
Thanks, Judy! I enjoyed making it!
Very nice – great job!
Hi Patty! Thanks! 🙂
Wow! Great job Cathy! 😀
Thanks, ioanna! I enjoyed making it, even though it took a while! 🙂
What an amazing workmanship. Blue is my favorite. Relaxing and gives me the feeling like I’m close to the ocean. Great work my friend.
Thank-you! You’re tight about blue being relaxing. I chose the colors because I got word that the bride also loves blue! It took awhile but I really enjoyed making it.
Wow, that’s a beautiful blanket! I’m sure it was so appreciated by the happy couple 🙂

Thank-you! I didn’t see them open it but I heard they were very happy. 🙂
Beautiful, what a nice job!
Thanks, so much!
Great job! You must be glad it’s done … hopefully it will bring many years of warmth to the happy couple =D
Thanks! I’m very glad it’s done! I had fun making it but it took a long time! LOL.
That is a beautiful blanket, Cathy. I liked seeing the photo that showed it in its place once it was finished.
Thanks, Naomi! Laying it out also helps to figure out if anything else is going to be added. Once you look it over you can decide if it’s really finished! 🙂
Very nice. Ever try socks?
