Germany 5a

The theme for the Weekly Photo Challenge is Distorted.  Here’s a picture I’ve always wanted to use but wasn’t quite sure how.  Now, I finally have the opportunity!

I’ve posted a few times about my dad and his time spent in Germany during the Korean conflict.  Here is a show of extremes.  Is my dad so short that he appears like a little boy?  Is his buddy a giant?

Well, it’s neither, really.  My dad is 5’4’’ tall, so yes, he is small in stature.  The door jamb tells gives the height dimensions of the taller man.  Also, compare the shoes of each man!

A show of extremes, indeed!  I wonder if this man is someone my dad walked alongside regularly, or, if they just ran into each other, and someone happened to have a camera.  Hopefully I’ll remember to ask him about it!

For the next picture, I was not jumping onto the tracks at the Houston Airport!

If you read my previous post, Patience and Cup of Tea, you know that I had some adventures in travel yesterday.  http://wp.me/p1OXNv-7I

It just so happens that during my down time I was reading a lot of your blogs.  This is how I discovered this week’s theme!  I saw my reflection, grabbed my cell phone and took this shot before the tram arrived to take me to the next terminal.  I decided not to crop the photo so you could see the view of the tracks.

A distorted view of my distorted day!

I've always enjoyed writing and finally decided it was time to blog! As part of my profession I write every day, but I'm now trying to take the time to write creatively. My family and friends have been very encouraging as there is little that is written down in the way of a family chronicle. This is a favorite topic of mine! In addition to family history, I write about life, family, friends and faith. My husband is a full-time parent to our special needs daughter. I’ve explored this topic, too. I also enjoy music, crocheting, reading and relaxing with my family. I hope you enjoy what I have to offer!

Yeah, love the shot of your dad. Of course it’s no exact calculation, not knowing the grade they were standing on etc…Nor the height of the door jam. But, I’m thinking, though as you’ve said maybe not a giant…the guy on the left could certainly try out for the Chicago Bulls, or the Charlotte Bobcats, as he looks to be 6.3 to 6.5. I count the bricks above his thumb to the top of the head to be between 4 and half to 5 bricks…each brick being 2 1/4″ thick…so, bout a foot taller than your dad looks like. But, again, there is that “Distorted” element of not having certain other dimensions for accuracy. Great “Distorted” image…

Hi sonsothunder! I had similar thoughts about his height…and basketball! You’re right we get a general idea of not exact…it leaves a bit to the imagination. Thanks for your comment!
