About Cathy

I’ve always enjoyed writing and finally decided it was time to blog!  My husband is a full-time parent to our special needs daughter.  I write about life, family, friends and faith.  Occasionally I write about special needs.   As part of my profession I write every day, but I’m now trying to take the time to write creatively.  My family and friends have been very encouraging as there is little that is written down in the way of a family chronicle.  I also enjoy crocheting, reading and relaxing with my family. I hope you enjoy what I have to offer!

The family chronicle is one of the biggest reasons i too, started blogging. No one in my family has anything written down..no journals, family trees, nothing. I wanted to be sure something exists for the generations that come after me..something they can point to and say,’this is who my people were.” history is important! I’m so glad you think so, too!!

Hi Karen. I’ve started getting commnets from family members on my posts so I’m glad to know that they appreciate the stories. The support from other bloggers also makes me realize that we all have a wealth of information to share. I’m glad to do my part! Thanks!

I liked the way you use your blog to tell your story Cathy….recently I read a wonderful book that I think you will like. It’s called Travelling with Pomegranates by Sue Monk Kidd and Ann Kidd Taylor….this mother and daughter duo have written about their journeys as mother and daughter and also as travelers searching for meaning in different geographies. I do hope you find the peace and tranquility you are looking for…god bless!

Good morning, Cathy – I don’t know what you brought you my way, but thank you for visiting and for letting me know you were there. I have enjoyed browsing through your blog…and find the pieces on your daughter most touching. I understand your life with autism…not to the same point on the spectrum, but mine has been similarly touched.

    Wishing you well, Scott.

Hello, seekraz. Thanks for stopping by. I appreciate your comments very much. I don’t write about my daughter every week, but when I do I often receive very supportive feedback.
Often when I like a post, I check to see who else also clicked “Like.” I’ll read their bios, and often go to their sites. That’s how I came your way! I look forward to more of your posts! Thanks again!

Yes, I noticed that you didn’t write about your daughter all the time…and I noticed, too, that your other blog friends were very supportive…that must be very helpful.

I’m glad you stumbled my way…I will often do the same and have found some remarkable blogs by doing so.

I hope to see you around…take care. :)

You’re welcome…I will be waiting for it when it gets here. :) You might find some of my earlier posts interesting, too…the ones under the Autism category.

I’m enjoying the dialogue, too, Cathy…will see you here and there. :)

Oh wow Cathy, I just now discovered your blog — this is so great! I know you’ve seen my mom & Tiki’s blog… I was actually just thinking of throwing in the towel on that one… and giving in to mighty Facebook.

Actually, I think that’s not a bad thing, FB is, among many other things, the ultimate Baby Photo Sharing Website! :)

But as you’ve shown in your posts so far, there’s a real power in your own website that isn’t just the batter of your life poured into Facebook’s waffle iron.

I actually just started a Facebook “page” for my Dad. He always wanted me to “show his slides” after he was gone… and of course by “show” he meant — have peeps over, turn out the lights and click the projector — but while he missed the internet/web in his time, I’ve come to realize that a FB page of his photos is, though neither of us knew it, what he “meant.” Or the best way to honor what he hoped for.

Anyway, I think blogging is really powerful in a number of ways and it was so great to find yours, with some classic old photos I remember, and also some that I don’t think I’ve ever seen.

    Keep up the great work!

Glenn!!! Welcome to my site! Your comment brought back a lot of memories. The last time we saw each other was for my mom’s birthday last year. We talked about the photo gallery that my dad developed…and now through my blog you’re getting to see some of the fruits of his labors! That conversation plus your mom’s ventures into blogging was the psugh I needed to finally get started! I can appreciate why you’d migrate your moms and Tiki’s page to FB…but as you can see by what I’m doing, our family’s storys would have a limited audience if I only stuck to FB. Love the waffle iron reference BTW. I’ve been amazed and grateful for the comments that I’ve recevied in the blogosphere, including people asking how to get started on writing their families stories.

I’d look forward to seeing your dad’s galleries. What a great legacy for others to see all his photographs.

Something to think about. Perhaps some time down the road, if the story is right, I’d like to use the occassional photo from his gallery. I’d love to showcase something on his behalf – he was a craftsman who had such a passion for capturing moments in time. Let me know.

I’m SO GLAD you stopped by! This conversation could have been a post al its own! …maybe it will be…who knows!?!

Hello, Cathy. Thanks for dropping by my blog. A family chronicle sounds wonderful! And brave too! I have read some published ones that are the result of a collaboration between sisters or multi-generational family members. And it’s such a wonderful legacy to bequeath to loved ones generations hence. My hat off to you!

Hello likeitiz! I never really thought about the word legacy, but more bloggers are starting to make this comment. I suppose that’s what this can become. I enjoy writing, and I’ve always enjoyed these family stories, so it seemed natural for me to put the two together. I’m glad I can use this site as a means of expression. I’m also glad that younger generations in my family are learning about their roots. Thanks so much!
